Theme:
Juneteenth:  You Know the Truth, Now the Rest of the Story
​
The Purpose:
To encourage Acadiana to learn about African and African American Historical Facts and understand why freedom is so precious and calls for true understanding.
 
Essay or Comic Book Contest Guidelines:

Eligible ages:      13 to 18 years

Requirements:

  1. Use the theme stated above.

  2. Essay minimum number of words:  150

  3. Essay Format:  Double-space (Neatly handwritten or typed); well-written

  4. Comic Strip Format:  Minimum of 3 pages, neatly handwritten or typed; well written

  5. Write the following on the top left of paper:

    1. Child’s name

    2. Parent’s name & phone number (if under 18)

    3. Address

    4. Email

    5. Phone number, if different from parent’s

  6. After writing the essay or comic strip, complete the registration form below and upload it to our website.

Winner Prizes:  Three winners to be awarded gift cards, $100 to $300, donated by A Freeman Driving School.

Poster or Comic Strip Contest Guidelines:

Eligible ages:      8 to 12 years

Requirements:

  1. Use the theme stated above.

  2. After creating the poster or 1 page comic strip, take a picture and upload it to our website.

  3. Write the following on the top left of the poster:

    1. Child’s name

    2. Parent’s name & phone number (if under 18)

    3. Address

    4. Email

    5. Phone number, if different from parent’s

  4. After completing the poster, take a picture, complete the registration form below and upload it to our website. 

Winner Prizes:  Three winners to be awarded gift cards, $25 to $100, donated by A Freeman Driving School.
